Message from the Meet Directors
Heath and Laurie Owens
As long-time Arroyo Grande residents, we are thrilled to invite you to the 4th Annual AG All Comers Track Series. Born and raised in Arroyo Grande, Heath is proud to be a member of the AGHS Hall of Fame. Together, we have raised two amazing, active kids who loved attending the Atascadero All Comers meets growing up. Even when we couldn’t take them, their grandparents made sure they never missed out.
When AG got a new track and enrollment in AGHS track and field started to decline, we were inspired to start our own All Comers meets to help the sport grow. Our kids, Karlee and Garrett, benefited immensely from the incredible teachers and coaches at AGHS. Both were three-sport athletes and earned Division 1 athletic scholarships, with track and field playing a crucial role in their athletic success. We want to share this positive impact with the younger generation.
Now in its fourth year, the AG All Comers Track Meets have become more than just athletic events—they are wonderful community gatherings. These meets also serve as important fundraisers for the AGHS track and field and cross country programs. Over the past three years, the meets have generated significant funds, with generous support from local businesses, enabling us to purchase a $25,000 electronic timing system , GPS watches , and a Pole Vault Cover for the AGHS Athletic Department. This electronic timing equipment has allowed AGHS to time its own events and save thousands of dollars.
These meets wouldn’t be possible without the generous sponsorship from local businesses and the dedicated team of volunteers. Our foundation, CCAF, has done an incredible job running the meets, and we are now focusing on enhancing the scoreboard at Doug Hitchens Stadium at AGHS. Your support at these events helps us achieve our goals for future track and field program and equipment enhancements.
Please join us for this amazing event and support the continued growth and success of our track and field community.
See you at the start line,
Heath and Laurie Owens
